Update - Change of Timing

Just letting you all know that the timing for the Barcamp has changed to the 17th of November. For defrag attendees this means that it's being held on the evening of defrag day one which should reduce logistical hassles. It also means we can leverage the infrastructure that will be in place for defrag itself.

It's important to note that barcamp attendees who are not going to defrag will not be able to access the venue till 7:15pm. The barcamp itself will begin at 7:30 sharp. However (and this is pretty darn exciting) Barcamp registrants can, thanks to the generosity of the defrag organizers, get a cool 15% off the admission price to defrag - just use code "kepesevent" when registering.

Big news - Rackspace has come on board as platinum sponsor for the event. After a very quick discussion with Rackspace that included me seeing some amazing social good initiatives they're involved with, it became apparent that Rackspace is quintessentially a company that shows what Technology4Good can do.

Sophia B Liu is currently a PhD Candidate and a NSF Graduate Research Fellow at University of Colorado at Boulder (CU) in an interdisciplinary program called Technology, Media and Society at the Alliance for Technology, Learning and Society (ATLAS) Institute. Her dissertation research focuses on the use of social media in the crisis context as it relates to emerging cultural heritage values and practices.Sophia will talk about the different crisis communities that are evolving and different technologies for crisis relief.
